Vermont Composites, Inc. (VCI) of Bennington, Vermont, is pleased to announce that
Tom Bell has been appointed Manager, Manufacturing Support.
Tom joined Vermont Composites in March 2008 as the Manager of the Manufacturing Support Group. Immediately prior to that appointment, he served for eight years as a Senior Analyst with National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Albany, NY. During his tenure with NIST-MEP, he provided training and implementation support to dozens of manufacturing organizations through the application of lean and other continuous improvement methods. He also has been a frequent guest lecturer on lean enterprise related topics at regional universities, colleges and other public forums. Tom began his manufacturing career with the U.S. Department of Army in 1973 after completing studies in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Over the following twenty-six year period, he held leadership positions in various technical and management settings involving manufacturing, planning and design activities. Associated training and education sources include Hudson Valley Community College, U.S. Department of Defense, State University of New York at Albany and the American Society for Quality.
Vermont Composites, Inc. designs and fabricates advanced carbon fiber composite
structures for medical, aerospace and industrial markets. The company is ISO 9001:2001 and AS 9100 certified and services a broad range of customers. Manufacturing processes include layup, autoclave and press cure, CNC routing and machining, finishing and assembly. Support functions include design, analysis, tooling design, testing and all administrative functions.
Products include: medical imaging tables and other composites structures used in
diagnostic imaging and therapeutic applications; products for the aerospace and aircraft industries including fairings, radomes, electronic enclosures, and other
composite structures used in aircraft, launch vehicles, and spacecraft.
